Hospital Visit
Our Prep class visited the Pioneer Valley Private Hospital to learn what happens when you are a patient in hospital. The nurses talked about when you are admitted and then we all got to try on a hospital gown and hat. We visited the surgery room and tried the heart monitor, breathing mask, and learnt about what happens if you need an operation. We asked lots of questions and the nurses were very friendly and showed us the special lights and how the bed moves up and down with the touch of a button.
Library Visit
Because we use the Mobile Library at Seaforth, not all our Prep students had been to the town library before. Kathy, the Librarian showed us the different sections of the library and then we listened to a story in the childrens area. We played with puzzles, explored the childrens area, read some more books with our parents, then we used our library cards to borrow a book to take home.
Kite Making
After watching a TVa program on flying machines, we decided to make some. We started with paper planes, then one of the students suggested making kites. We had lots of fun painting them bright colours and choosing the tail pieces. Mrs Richardson and Mrs Atkins made the framework for the kites out of bamboo. We had to wait for a windy day to fly them. It was excellent!!
Easter Hat Parade
We hold an Easter Hat Parade every year at our school with the lower primary students. We also invite the Kindy kids and any younger brothers and sisters to join in. The students make their own hats and parade them for the audience. Students also put on a show for the audience with songs and games. There are lots of easter eggs too!
